Usefulness lost

Dear Paramount Leader Hu Jintao,

As you are probably aware, Informant F has been sacked as Defence Minister of country A.

F has served the People's Republic of China greatly by providing information about the defence plans of country A and of course, anything we wanted to know about country USA.

Now that this idiot is no longer useful, may I have your permission to stop sending him suits, airline tickets and Christmas cards? Also, what am I going to do with the Canberra rental property?

Fuck me, this guy is so dumb it makes my brain hurt. Please advise of the next course of action.

Yours etc...

Helen Liu

I hear that the Chinese have bought the Hummer division of GM. Not worried about carbon footprints, or bloodily stencilling dissidents and protesters across city squares. (Hose down the pavement, delete all references).
Will it be re-badged as the Hum-ma or is that a rude word in mandarin?
And how's that new world economy going? You know, the one that doesn't need you to make, grow or dig up anything, just consume. Does it end in all your products becoming the pride of another country?
Meanwhile, is it true that we are all going to love the new small eco-geeky runabouts that the greens and the government they helped to elect seem determined to foist on us? Plus, of course, some token light rail and Metros that all go to the same small enclave of "inner" suburbs.
Oh, brave new world, that has such creative, alternate, artistic people funding their projects with carbon credit endowments!

The Chinese have been building HMMMVs for a decade or so. Now they will own the design.

Cheers

Thanks mon minicapitaine. Dongfeng has a certain je ne sais quoi, but Duesenberg it aint.
We're used to the Chinese producing almost everything now, I guess.
There does remain the question of what to employ our (formerly) process worker people at. Infrastructure? We need to come up with something better than another 10km inner-suburban light rail for advertising industry yuppies who live close in. That really nags at me since the same suburbs already have incredibly good bus services. Sydney's main housing development corridors (NW and SW) get no special treatment.

Yes, Egg. And I believe Combet is to take over Defence Forces Personnel. Was there nobody they could appoint called Spooner?
