McDonalds' health initiative poorly received

2007:

"We need to find a way to reduce consumption of foods high in fat, sugar and salt," she said.

"A tax is a great idea - it has been proven that when the price goes up consumption goes down."

McDonald's stands to make a fat profit from its new policy of hiking up prices in the poorest areas of NSW...

McDonalds was also criticised for having more outlets in poorer areas, which ignores the fact that land is cheaper and more available in those locations, and that councils in wealthy enclaves (like Balmain) refuse them permission to open a store.
