Good news, bad news

In news that will gladden the hearts of libertarian/free speech types, Chinese authorities have announced that protests will be allowed at the Beijing Olympics - but only in designated areas.

You probably also have to get your protest banners approved by a middle-ranking bureaucrat before proceeding.

Sounds strangely like the restrictions the Democrats are putting in place for their convention here in Colorado. The Free Speech Zones are a long way from the Pepsi Center where the convention is going to be held. Ya know we can't have the delegates being upset by the “common folks”.

Additionally, the street people are being given movie tickets and museum passes to make sure they are invisible.
