* Why does no one want to read books from Kyrgyzstan? I dunno, can I buy a vowel?
* A headline straight from a Borat movie.
* Your opinions of developments in Kyrgyzstan...A rare chance to make a real difference in an online poll.

Why does no one want to read books from Kyrgyzstan?
fyi, it has the same link as the Borat link
A headline straight from a Borat movie.
just the headline?
Bride kidnapping, in fact, is one of the most durable and flourishing traditions of Kyrgyz nation. Even the Soviet Union did not manage to root out it.
root
Nowadays the tradition is justified by cutting of costs....
and people think the Scots are cheap.
Instead the ceremony will be moderated by a mullah and backed up with a religious certificate in Arabic.
And what languages are spoken in Kyrgyzstan? Kyrgyz (we don't need no stinkin' vowels 64.7%), Uzbek (13.6%), Russian (12.5%), Dungun (1%), other (5.7%)
A husband just needs to say talak (divorce) three times and she is (divorced). Few women dare to seek support in father’s house after that, in fear of being condemned.
Personally, I'm in favor of keeping paperwork as simple as possible - but not simpler. Does he then throw dog poop on her shoes?
Returning of a kidnapped daughter is not negotiable in many families.
No returns and very likely no exchanges.
Meantime violence with the blessing of some clergymen continues...
To be fair to Kyrgyzstan recognizing the problem is the first step. Step two should probably make mullahs cry.
