Are you that special person who - weary from trudging the endless superhighways - just longs to camp next to a glorious oasis of the mind? Do you desire to explore new frontiers, splash in shared ideas, fill your belly with the refreshing fruits of inspiration, and bask in the gentle rays of fond reflection?
Well, you can fuck right off. This, my friends, is not that place. This place is... The ShadowLands.
Dying August 29, 1976 was Mississippi bluesman Jimmy Reed. Amongst others, Reed was a key influence on the Rolling Stones.

Even though I'm a big R&B fan I've somehow never listened to Jimmy Reed before. I always focused on Clapton's borrowings from BB King and Elmore James. But you're right: the v.early Stones - Reed link is clear (and Yardbirds). Fascinating.
Y'know I saw wonderful Bo Diddley in the round at Macquarie Uni Bar (no stage, up close) in 1973. 'Mona' may be the first Stones song I paid attention to.
