Whale disposal - a guide

The ShadowLands has linked to this before, but we're giving it another run in light of recent events. RIP Colin.

so here are a couple of questions...

if some rich people want to keep a whale alive, why the hell can't they? Why storm in with your little badges and syringes and kill the animal when it could have survived (with much financial investment)?

A guy from NPWS or Taronga Zoo or somewhere dismissively said "give the money to the poor." If that's his attitude, why didn't he devote his time to feeding the poor rather than killing a whale?

Why are leftists so bloody keen on mercy killing? (abortions, euthanasia, etc)

Who knows, this whale might have become a local feature in time, with the quirky orphan story and the wealthy backers. It could have even become a tourist attraction.
Who knows...

I am no sentimentalist when it comes to the environment, DD, but I agree with you. If a sick or abandoned animal comes to my doorstep, I am inclined to do what I can to help.

Corporations would have fallen over themselves to help with resources if someone had the gumption to try to feed it, and there would have been no shortage of volunteers either.
