Peter Cundall, host of ABC TV's Gardening Australia, is filming his final episode of the popular program before he retires.
The former Senate candidate for the Communist Party of Australia, said he has always loved his job.
"I've never lost the passion," he said. "Right from the very beginning, the only difficulty I ever had was people claiming that the ABC is politically biased."
Meanwhile the ABC has announced his replacement on the program will be Mr Fidel Castro.
"A revolution is not a bed of roses," Mr Castro said from his hospital bed. "A revolution is a struggle between the future and the past!"

He served as a machine gunner in Korea? I hope he killed lots of communists.
Penguin
And that's his bloomin' lot.
He would have made a fine communist. Think of the metaphors he could have used:
"For the garden to grow, you must pull the weeds"
"To make a salad you have to cut down a few plants"
"This is a dictatorship of the proletariat vegetables"
I liked him for his approach to gardening, although I knew about his politics for a long time.
I think Kevin Heinz forgot more about gardening than P.C. ever knew.
The same goes for Terry (McBeth) Lane, I liked his programme because he was entertaining and funny at times, not because of his politics, but despite.
