The amazing journey of Lewis Pugh

For some reason, the great explorer Lewis Pugh has not provided a map of his kayak adventure to the North Pole, however, by carefully picking over his diaries, I have been able to come up with a picture of exactly how far he penetrated the Arctic.

He left the island of Svalbard (circled on the above map) but could not penetrate any further than 81 degrees north (the large blue line that encircles the Arctic is 80 degrees). As a matter of fact, it appears the intrepid Pugh has gone about exactly as far as is indicated by the dotted line marked "average summer ice extent".
